Top 10 Common Excuses For Social Media Slackers

Are you guilty of using these top 10 common excuses for social media procrastination?

When it comes to doing something we can put off until tomorrow, we all have our usual excuses. Yep, you’ve used them all—excuses—but this list is an easy strategy to solve social media procrastination.

Every once in a while, we need a little slap on the back of our head to get us in gear again (not too hard, please). But before we get back to work (we’ve got bills to pay), we wanted to put together a list of top 10 common excuses used by social media slackers.

  1. I’m way too busy for social media. You know who’s not too busy for social media? Your competitors. And they’re taking all your customers while you ignore one of the most successful ways to promote your business.

  2. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with social media. If you have a question about any social media platform, there’s this thing called Google. You can use it to answer any question you have. Plus, there are sites (just like this one) that offer up plenty of tips to get you unstuck and on your way.

  3. This social media stuff is on its way out. Sorry to break it to you, but social media is here to stay for a while longer. New social media sites are popping up as people demand to be constantly connected to what’s important to them.

  4. I don’t know where to start. Yes, it can be overwhelming, but remember, you don’t have to be on every social media platform. Start on just one or two. And make sure that these are the sites that your target market frequent. Depending on who they are, you may only need to concentrate your efforts on one particular site.

  5. I’m not techie. That’s the beauty of social media – you don’t have to be. Be sure to read the help section of the sites you’re interested in. They usually have video tutorials that will walk you through the process.

  6. I have no clue how to attract followers. You need to participate. Join groups, follow people that have similar interests, immerse yourself in the community. If you’re leaving insightful information, people will start to follow you.

  7. I can’t keep up with the big boys. Hey, the big boys had to start somewhere, too. They spent time grooming their audience and putting in the time to build a sizable following. The only thing that they are doing differently than you is that they are putting in the time… consistently!
