Social media is an ever-changing phenomenon that can sometimes be overwhelming to navigate. But we’re going to put you ahead of the pack and give you some of our predictions as to the direction we think social media is going to take in the coming months. Let’s look into the crystal ball and see what’s in store for us…
There’s an app for everything
If you think there are too may apps already, get ready for a tidal wave of new ones. Cowabunga, dude! But don’t worry about drowning in a sea of sensory overload – things like news aggregation, magazine, ebooks and social media apps will help cut down on the clutter and organize productivity. As well, these apps will be easier to navigate and will allow you to share your content with a wider range of people.
Pick Your Social Media Platform
It’s much more than Facebook and Twitter. Now, we’ve got Google +, Pintrest, Yelp, Instagram, LinkedIn, and many more (and still more emerging on a daily basis). Pick your battlefield based on where your key demographic hangs out and use you time and finances establishing your presence on these platforms. You don’t have to be everywhere, but you do need to be where your customers are.
Beyond the iPad
Tablets should be important to you because they are important to your customers. Tablets changed the way users consume information. The iPad changed the playing field and moving forward, the tablet will be bringing computing into new areas. They will continue to offer a new set of applications, so expect it to continue to go where no computer has gone before.
It’s all about what you’re doing right now and sharing it with the world. If you’ve never heard of the term before, social gestures means “social sharing” in the context of a brand, business or person. You’ve got comments, status updates and shared links. Now, it’s moved into check-in points, purchases and likes (so much to like, so little time). Expect to see even more ways for users to share and distribute information, so make sure your website makes it easy for customers to share your content.
These changes are already taking place as we speak, so there’s nowhere to hide. It’s much more productive to embrace and learn as much as we possibly can about them and make them work for us. We’d love to hear what you’re most excited about or what you’re working on for the future. Leave us a comment below!
