The different styles you can adopt in your article-writing style are numerous, but we’re just going to go over a few here in detail: Informative, humourous, personal and opinion. Chances are you’ve already touched on them before. The challenge now is to incorporate all of them into your blog at some point in time. Let’s go over them in a bit more style, shall we?
This is probably the format you use most often. Straightforward, Informative articles can be the easiest kind to write, especially if you have the information at hand. The problem with this style is that it tends to be a dry read. And when it’s dry, you’re in danger of losing your audience. Straight-up facts can put anyone to sleep, and after 1000 words, your readers will be nodding off behind the monitor. The facts in your informative articles are important, but you can make them more interesting. Try adding a graph or infograhic. These images will break up the flow of words and add insight into what you are saying.
If you can entertain your audience, they’ll keep coming back for more. Humour is an awesome tool in your writing arsenal. Add it to your Informative articles to help keep them interesting. Use it liberally – there’s no shortage of humour, so don’t be afraid of using it all up. You can even share a humourous story that has nothing to do with the topic you usually write about… like the time you wore your thong backwards and the day just went downhill from there. A humourous anecdote at the start of an article sets the stage for what’s to follow. There are no limits to how you can use humour in your posts.
Readers relate to personal stories. So tell one about yourself. Your audience wants to build a trusting relationship with a person, not a business. If your blog is about how to start your own home business, tell people about the successes and failures you’ve experienced setting up your own business. You’re seen as an expert and readers want to know what they can expect to go through. You care enough about them to share your personal experiences so they don’t make the same mistakes you did. Besides that, it’s a great opportunity to talk about yourself. If you’re anything like us, you don’t let opportunities like that slip by!
What sets you apart from other experts in your field? One of the big things is your opinion. There’s nothing wrong with getting up on your soap box and spouting off about what you believe in. There are plenty of people who think the same way you do. And even if they don’t, it makes for a lively comment section on your posts. It’s okay if you’re opinion changes over time as well. Hey, that would make amazing article!
